~Travel Team Fall Soccer Permits Status
Dear Travel Teams
We want to give you an update on your practice permits. Practices will start Aug 15. We are almost done inputting them and expect to email them by the end of this week to you. We will send you another email about when they are coming so you can look for them.
Also – Upper House practices will also start in August. Those permits should be out by the end of next week at the latest.
Recreational permits start in September (after Labor Day) and will be distributed at the Viking Team meetings.
Please do not call the office as we are busy working on your permits and it just distracts us. If you want to make changes, those will have to wait until after all of the permits come out.
Thank you.

~ Dolores Park Soccer Field Planning Meeting - Thursday, August 4th at 6:00 PM
There have been several meetings regarding the Soccer Field at Dolores. It seems that none of our Mission Youth Soccer League Coaches or parents have attended any of these meetings. Please let your team families know about the meeting this Thursday. We all seem to want more soccer fields in San Francisco so PLEASE step forward and show your support.
~CCSL
The following was sent to CCSL teams on Saturday. If you are part of the CCSL and did not receive this email, please read below:
You are getting this email because your name is associated with a competitive youth soccer team that is participating in the Coast Section of the CCSL (CYSA Cal Soccer League). At this time it is critical that we have a completely accurate list of teams that wish to participate in the Coast Section and your team and your club/league have made that commitment. Preliminary assignments to Silver, Bronze and Copper divisions have been made. You can look for your division at www.ccslcoast.org/brackets <http://www.ccslcoast.org/brackets> . Look for the shortcut "Brackets Fall" at the top of www.ccslcoast.org <http://www.ccslcoast.org> . (Note this is NOT the same website used for Bay Region or State Premier.)
We ask for your help to look for teams that are listed and do not belong, and for teams that are not listed and are expecting to play in the Coast Section. This email is being sent to all teams with a Status=âVerifiedâ . Verified means that the team exists, has paid their fees to their local registration league and will participate.
Volunteer seeders have been working over the last two weeks establishing the brackets. It is the goal of the CCSL Coast section to provide an appropriate level of competition to every team. If you have a concern regarding the bracket your team has been placed, you can contact the age group seeder for your bracket via email at {Gender}{Age}@ccslcoast.org. For example if you are a Boys U11 team, your seeder can be reached at BU11@ccslcoast.org.
To move up a bracket, you must provide compelling evidence that your team is currently stronger than is indicated by your last fall record. Yes, brackets for the fall of 2011 are based on how your team performed in the fall of 2010 and promotion and relegation policies. Tournament records are indicative but not definitive because of the number of guest players permitted during most tournaments. Spring records are not very useful because of the liberal guest player policies during the spring and the emphasis in Spring on teams to experiment with players.
The total number of teams in the upper brackets are pretty much set, so for your team to move up, another team will have to move down. Requests to move down need to be justified too.
It is possible that U18 and U19 teams were combined in a U19 division.
The seeders will be accepting comments regarding the brackets and making adjustments through August 5th, after which the brackets are finalized. Note that brackets may change during the comment time so be sure to recheck them. Shortly after the brackets are finalized, we will start generating the schedules.
The proposed play dates for the schedules will be published shortly. You can check the Whatâs New section of the website at www.ccslcoast.org <http://www.ccslcoast.org> for the latest. The schedules generated will contain only the names of the teams and the suggested play date. Teams are encouraged to play on the published date, but if both the home team and the away team agree in writing, the home team can change the date. Acceptable reasons for requesting a change will be published.
In general Bronze North and Copper North brackets will be scheduled on Sundays; Bronze South and Copper South brackets will be scheduled on Saturdays. The Bronze Far North bracket will be scheduled on Saturdays. The Silver, Bronze A/B/C and Copper A/B brackets will be scheduled on both Saturdays and Sundays.
The scheduling algorithm that we use tries to take into account what days your team may be âUnavailableâ. We try to minimize the number of matches that you will be trying to change during the season. To do that we need to know what dates you are âUnavailableâ. Please logon to the TeamStaff segment at www.ccslcoast.org <http://www.ccslcoast.org> and go to TeamStaff:Manage-Unavailable. Look for the âaddâ icon and you can enter your team unavailable data. All the unavailable requests will be reviewed, so please include a reason in the Notes.
Teams with excessive or unreasonable requests will have their requests deleted. Legitimate requests include that your team will be going to the XYZ tournament or that your team is hosting a TOPS Soccer all day clinic. Requests that the coach is out of town, or that a star player is in the school play will not be honored.
Unreasonable requests such as blocking out every Sunday for both home and away games will not be honored. Teams are expected to be available to play on either Saturday or Sunday or both on each weekend. It is our goal to give each team 10 matches, 5 home and 5 away although 8 or 9 matches may also be scheduled depending on the age and the bracket.
In late August the CCSLCoast Section will hold a series of MANDATORY meetings. An adult, CYSA credentialed representative from each team (as listed in the team staff for your team) must attend one of these meetings. Meetings will be held to one hour. Teams that do not send a representative will be penalized in the standings. The meetings will cover how to schedule matches, communication between teams, expected teamstaff and spectator behavior, guest player rules, match cards, score reporting, referee evaluations, send off procedures and more. Each adult attending the meeting can only represent a single team.
Yes, this is a lengthy email â sorry about that. If you know of any teams that are missing from or should not be included in the CCSLCoast Section please contact director@ccslcoast.org. If you have a question or concern regarding your bracket placement, please contact the age group seeder at {Gender}{Age}@ccslcoast.org (for example GU16@ccslcoast.org).
This season 827 teams are participating in the CCSLCoast section. We are organized by a handful of volunteers. We are always seeking additional help. We need seeders, meeting organizers, discipline committee members, schedulers, awards and more. Can you help? Drop a line to the director@ccslcoast.org.
Thank you and here is looking for a great season.
