~Vikings
Dear Primary Team Contacts/Coaches,

We have now played two Saturdays, and the season is off to a great start. The number of issues this past week was very small, and we want to thank you all! We are trying to provide an opportunity for over 4000+ kids to get exercise, learn, and grow each weekend, and we couldn’t do it without your support!

Hurrah for refs!
This past weekend, our new approach to ref assigning really clicked into gear, and we had 95%+ coverage again. Thanks to all the youth refs for signing up for games. I think we have a great crop of new refs this year, and the reports back from the refs tell us how much they are enjoying being out there.

Second half of the season schedule requests (10/16-on)
We know that last minute conflicts come up. Therefore, we are reopening the schedule request page on the website until 10/3/10.

The purpose of this is to allow teams to request byes, early or late games for specific days because of school carnivals, etc. Please do not send us a wish list. This is a courtesy to help out. Remember that we try hard to meet all schedule requests, but cannot make promises. (We met about 98% of the requests for the first half of the season). We will never force another team to take a bye because of a request, only because of an odd number of teams. If you make a bye request, please make sure and give us a back-up suggestion (ie bye or first game of the day, bye or last game of the day). For U10 and up teams, we cannot accept schedule requests for the tournament weeks.Except, for U13/U14 teams, now is the time to find out when the majority of your team is taking the SSATs and put in a schedule request. We will try to give only afternoon games during the tournament, but there will be some early games.

O’Connell and Lowell
We want to remind everyone that no parents are allowed on the field at O’Connell. We got a report from the Athletic Director that he asked people to move off the field and was met with some resistance. We are visitors there and at Lowell, and we want to maintain good relations. If you are asked by a school official to do something, then please do it with a smile on your face. Thanks!

Sunday games on Oct 3
For next weekend (Oct. 2/3), we did not get access to Ft. Scott. It is a lottery, and an Adult Frisbee League got that weekend first. We have had to move those games to SUNDAY (10/3) on Kimball. If you have a Boys U9 or Boys U10 team, Please look at your schedule for next weekend carefully.

Hotline
If there is an issue on the field this Saturday, we have established a hot line manned by one of our officers. We will try to help. Please call this number: 415 279-0820.

Have fun this weekend and a great season this fall!

Best wishes,
Stuart and Jon

First of all, please visit the website https://ccsl.gotsport.com/ for answers on match procedures and information as well as the public Schedule and Results. If you have questions whose answers are not covered, let me know and, in addition to answering your question, I'll add the info to the website.

Few items... Beginning with...
Regardless of what may have been announced lately in regards to Morgan Hill location for all the U17 and above, Bay Region games will be played in Home/Away format UNLESS one of the teams is from outside the Bay Region boundaries. There may be other reasons why I may move a game to Morgan Hill - lack of qualified local refs, problem with the fields. Whatever games you agreed to schedule with your opponents in Home/Away format or any other format do NOT need to change!

I trust you'll make it work...If not, I'll schedule your games.

Also, for the Bay Region, the guesting rules are as per CYSA PIM 09-3 with the restrictions that players cannot guest down(Gold to Silver, etc) or within the same Division. In short, you can have up to 7 guests from within your REGISTRATION League (Passes first 4 digits are identical to the team's they guest for) who are not registered on teams that play within the same division or higher.

A younger player registered on an older team is allowed to guest at his/her appropriate age with the same restriction in regards to level of the Division .. (i.e. a U13 player registered on a U14 team that plays in Gold CANNOT guest on a U13 team playing in Silver Elite but can guest on a U13 team playing in Gold).

Below are several items that I hope will help you...

Home/Away Format

Game scheduling
The home team is responsible to schedule the game.
Home fields must be defined by your Club Scheduler in order to have them available to schedule your game on.

In the spirit of camaraderie we strongly suggest the home team does its best to accommodate reasonable requests made by the visiting team. We understand the scheduling difficulties each Club has and, ultimately, the home team has the final say.

Under no circumstances should a home team move the game to a different date without the consent of the visiting team.

If there are disagreements that cannot be solved, I'll end up being the one making the decision. We want all the games to be played!

Changes
All changes must be made in common agreement with the opponent. If special circumstances arise (rain-outs, etc) the opponent must agree to a change such that the game will be played.

I do not need to know about these changes but make sure your field scheduler and referee assignor are informed.

Referees
Referees must be assigned by the host Club/League.
CCSL is not involved in the assignment and payment processes and neither in the pay scale each Club uses. Follow the procedures you currently have in place.

Central Locations Format
Note: The following items apply ONLY to Central Locations!!

Locations
We do our best to secure Jefferson High and other Northern sites. In the South, Morgan Hill is the Central Location for teams coming from Fresno Area.

Game scheduling concept
All the games between a resident Bay Region team and a non-resident team should take place at a Central Location.

This arrangement can be overridden in common agreement between the teams involved and the games may be played in the home/away format or Central Location/Away format.

Unless such an agreement is reached, please do not schedule your home games!

Scheduler
I do the scheduling for the Central Locations and once I see a game scheduled at a home team site I will not schedule the away game at a Central location assuming your teams reached an agreement to play in home/away format.

Due to the complexity of securing fields and assigning games for quite a few teams, my capability to adjust the schedule per your special requests is very limited. If I get the request before any game is scheduled I may be able to do something about it but once scheduled I am reluctant to impact the other teams/games with a change.

Current Schedules at Central Locations
I went pretty far into the season with some schedules. After the first weekend when Jefferson changed the agreement on us, I am reluctant to count on the schedules beyond this coming weekend.

I wrote the above before finding out that Jefferson let us down for this 2nd weekend too.

So...Please give us a week to finalize the rental agreement before you plan around the posted schedules at Jefferson. We began negotiations with Skyline College too.

Changes
It would be helpful for me to know about agreements between teams but it is not mandatory unless you move a game already scheduled at a CL.

If you communicate with your opponents trying to reach an agreement, please include me only if and when such an agreement is reached. Please do not forward me the email string - all I need is the game # and the change info. Please have in mind that a change of a game scheduled at a Central Location impacts the rental, referees and maybe other teams...So...figure out the changes early and let me know ASAP.

Referees assignments
Bay Region referee assignors will cover all the games scheduled BY ME at CL. They will not assign referees for any other games.

Referee payments
The referee assignors will keep track of your team's referee payments and your League will be billed for these costs. Please have the funds available for when your League will ask for them.

Referee Pricing
ARs receive a $ payment equal to the minute length of the game half. The CR is paid $5 more. Example: If your age group plays 35 min halves, the referee costs are 2x$35 + 1x$40.

Game day procedures

Match Card
Home team prints one copy. After the match, if there are no send-offs, the referee must sign the match card and hand it back to the home team. The match card must be retained by the home team till one week beyond the end of the season. The league may ask the home team to mail in the match card at any time during the season.

If there is a send-off, the match referee must mail the match card in to the Send-Off Administrator along with the send-off report and passes of the individuals that were sent off.

Guest players must be added to the match card.

Score Posting (call-in)
The toll-free call-in #, event ID, PIN and match # are printed on your match card.

It is the Home Team's responsibility to call in the score but if it does not, the visiting team can do it.

Please follow the simple instructions printed on the Match Card and call in the score and Red Cards before 9PM on the day of the match.

Verify on-line that the score was reported correctly - I saw a 23-2 score. If in error, call it in again. If you miss this deadline or have any problem with the score, email the result to either myself or to George and we'll correct it.

At this time we are missing 4 scores - please call them in or let me know - BU11(1), BU12(1) and BU19(2).

Send-offs
Be prepared for a send-off (red card) with a properly stamped and addressed envelope and forms. See the instructions on the website.

Urge your match referee to file an electronic send-off form to make tracking way easier.

Gotsoccer ranking points
As you may have noticed, I got the Bay and Coast Divisions ranked. The ranking points are adjusted daily based on the standings and you can see them on your team ranking webpage.

Support
For problems, questions or just to chat ;-) ...feel free to call me. I work for a living and I appreciate you calling for urgent matters only. Email is less intrusive and I strongly recommend you use gotsoccer SUPPORT function.
As you login your gotsoccer, on the Home page, in the CCSL Event box, there is a link to SUPPORT. Click on it and...scold me ;-)

The status of the Support link changes as soon as I respond.

~CYSA Credentials
Throughout CYSA there is apparently widespread problem of improper credential checks at CYSA games. Coaches/players are presenting to the referee credentials from another organization in several instances. This needs to be corrected. Also, adults are being allowed to act as coaches without a coach's pass. Although these infringements seem to be petty, dire consequences could result such as insurance problems, unwanted protests, and especially ineligible oplayers being allowed to participate. As the last briege to cross the referee needs to be vigilant and not nonchalant on this subject.

Please see the memo about proper use of CYSA Credentials.
