~Micro Soccer
Dear Micro Teams
Medals for participating players were distributed to most teams last Saturday. We will continue the distribution this Saturday. Please remember that only registered players who have turned in their paperwork get medals.

A reminder, our permit does not allow dogs at the sport field. Although dogs are allowed on leash at SF Parks, they are not allowed for safety reasons at youth sport events. Please respect that rule. Parents with dogs will be told they have to leave.

Also, there is no alcohol allowed at youth sporting events. If your team parents are drinking on the sidelines the team will not be allowed to participate.

Finally, if you check our website, www.sfmicrosoccer.org, you will find the updated schedule. Our two rain out days, October 23rd and October 30th, have been rescheduled for November 13th and November 20th.

~Vikings
Dear Coaches and Team Contacts,

Fortunately, we escaped the rain last week. Jon and I visited several fields and we were both pleased to see lots of kids having fun playing soccer. The second week of the U10+playoffs seemed to go well from the reports.

Right now, it looks like the weather will be great this weekend. Some divisions will end this week. Some will end next week. We want to thank everyone for making this year a smooth one. We are looking for volunteers for next season. If you see things the League can improve on, then please forward your suggestions, but also get involved!

All players (U8-U14) in the Vikings League receive either trophies or medals at the end of the season. You should have received a separate email outlining the extended office hours to pick up medals/trophies for next week.

U8/U9 Teams
You should have already received the following info in an email, but in case anyone missed it:

This is the first season in a while that we have had rainouts two weeks in a row (much less two in a season). Our policy is not to reschedule games for the U8/U9 age group. That is because a lot of teams at this age are ready to move onto other activities, so it does not work to just slide games by one week.

Having said that, we want kids to play soccer. That is why we spend all this volunteer time. We think we have found a good logistic solution. We are going to offer a bonus week (11/20) for optional games. As much as possible, we will use turf fields to minimize the chance of rainouts.

Talk with your parents at practice or your game this weekend and confirm that you have enough kids that want to play (Don’t be surprised if some parents are not as excited as you are).

If your team would like to participate, then send an email to stuart@sfvikings.com (Please don’t send an email to the office or my other emails. Please use the address in this email) with the following information:

  1. Team name
  2. Team TIN (eg. 010XXXB08)
  3. Team age and gender
  4. Pick either MORNING or AFTERNOON (sorry, we can’t accept more specific time requests than that)

Please send your email by MON (11/15).
Again the correct email address is stuart@sfvikings.com
We will try to put out a complete schedule by WED (11/17).
We appreciate everyone’s patience.

For U10 Teams:

  • If you are playing in a Championship Game, both teams receive trophies upon completion of the game. The trophies are identical so if the game ends in a tie it does not matter.
  • If you are playing in a Consolation Game, both teams receive medals at the completion of the game.
  • If your team is not playing in either of these games because it is in a group with an odd number of teams and finished last, your team will receive medals. You can pick up the medals at the Vikings office and distribute them when you desire.

For U11, U12 and U13/14 Teams:

  • If you are playing in a Championship Game, both teams receive trophies at the completion of the game. The trophies are the same size within each age group but one says 1st place and one says 2nd place.
  • If you are playing in a Consolation Game, both teams receive medals at the completion of the game.
  • If your team is playing in a morning single-winner bracket game and loses, your team will receive medals. The home team should pick up the medals so that they can be awarded to the losing team right after the game.
  • If your team is not playing the last weekend, your team will receive medals. You can pick them up from the Vikings office (see times above) and can distribute them whenever you desire.
